Start with the objects and surfaces, then consider the ceiling position and the light distribution shown in the product information. The right layout depends on the room and the selected fittings, so product choice and planning should happen together.
What to consider before choosing
Identify the intended target and the distance from the fitting. Review beam information and adjustability for the model you are considering.
Confirm whether the fitting is recessed or surface-mounted, and check installation depth, dimensions and accessory requirements.
Consider glare from normal viewing positions and coordinate colour temperature and controls with the other lighting in the room.
